WhitePages.com Announces Bold Plan to Let Consumers Manage Their Personal Information Online

Extends service to cover 180 million U.S. adults – more than twice the size of wireline directories; 2008 plans will allow consumers to add cell phone numbers, email addresses and social networks to their listings

SEATTLE—December 10, 2007

WhitePages.com, the popular website for searching, finding and connecting with people, today announced that in 2008 the company will be moving to a community driven model by enabling users to manage their own listing on WhitePages.com. Plans center on providing users direct control of their WhitePages.com listing with the ability to add, correct, hide and delete information. At the same time the company will continue to increase the depth of information available, as well as the number of people searchable in their database. The company currently provides contact information for 180 million people, covering nearly 80 percent of all U.S. adults. By leveraging this deep collection of licensed data with user controlled content, the company will strengthen its position as the number one place consumers go to find and connect with people.

In 2008, WhitePages.com is committed to adding a number of significant enhancements to its people search service. The new user generated content capability will eventually allow consumers to add email addresses, mobile numbers, and social networking information, to better reflect the full spectrum of ways people like to communicate. To ensure that user controlled information remains accurate, relevant and protected, the company will execute appropriate data verification processes as it relates to editing listings. At the same time the company plans to aggregate online and offline people related information and make it available for free in one comprehensive place.

“This year we focused heavily on expanding our reach to cover the vast majority of U.S. adults to ensure we remained the first place consumers go when they need to connect with someone,” said Alex Algard, founder and CEO of WhitePages.com. “Next year we are excited to provide consumers an even more valuable user experience by continuing to add to our highly useful database and going one step further to give consumers the ability to control what information others see and control how they can be contacted.”

“People search is one of the fastest growing segments of the search market, and 2007 has been a banner year for the industry and for established companies like WhitePages.com,” said Matthew Booth, senior vice president and program director, interactive local media at The Kelsey Group. “WhitePages.com has always been a hassle-free, comprehensive resource for accessing phone and address information nationwide, and by doubling its database size this year the company is well positioned to deliver on its bold plans for 2008."

As 2007 comes to a close, WhitePages.com’s proprietary contact database covers 80 percent of the U.S. adult population, twice the reach of any direct competitor, and significantly more than online social networks such as MySpace, Facebook and LinkedIn, and even traditional wireline directory assistance. Furthermore, WhitePages.com is free, requires no registration or login, and offers consumers the most direct path to contacting with friends, family and business associates. WhitePages.com made significant progress in growing its database in 2007, doubling in size over the past 10 months from 89 million people to 180 million today, further cementing their position as the undisputed leader in this space.

WhitePages.com continues to be an incredibly successful business as measured by profitability and growth. This profitable ad-supported company is on track to hit $64 million in revenue in 2007, up from $52 million in 2006. Today, 40 million unique users rely on WhitePages.com each month.
