Alex Algard Named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2007 Award Recipient in the Pacific Northwest

WhitePages.com founder and CEO named to prestigious list of local entrepreneurs

SEATTLE-June 26, 2007

WhitePages.com, the best place for searching, finding and connecting with people, today announced that Alex Algard, founder and CEO, received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2007 Award in the software category in the Pacific Northwest. The Entrepreneur Of The Year Award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic, growing businesses. Algard was selected by an independent panel of judges and the award was presented at an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year gala event at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel & Towers on June 22, 2007.

"The Pacific Northwest has a long history of producing talented and distinguished entrepreneurs," said Algard. "I am proud and honored to be included on this list and look forward to representing WhitePages.com on a national level and carrying on the tradition of entrepreneurial spirit that Ernst & Young has recognized with this award. I would also like to acknowledge all of the heavy lifting done by the two teams at WhitePages.com and CarDomain.com. This award is as much theirs as it is mine."

WhitePages.com was founded by Algard 10 years ago. Born out of a frustration with the lack of quality free contact information, Algard purchased the WhitePages.com URL for $900 in late 1996. The site was officially launched in 1997 and run as a hobby while Algard pursued a career in investment banking with Goldman Sachs. In 1998 Algard founded CarDomain.com which has grown to become the Web's largest community for car enthusiasts, and an industry-leading automotive aftermarket online store. In 2000, Algard left his job on Wall Street and dedicated himself to his two Websites. WhitePages.com was incorporated in 2000, immediately began turning a profit, and has remained profitable ever since. Until earlier this year, Algard served full-time as the CarDomain.com CEO.

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year awards program celebrates its 21st anniversary this year and continues to honor entrepreneurs who have demonstrated excellence in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

"Ernst & Young is honored to recognize extraordinary business leaders, such as Alex Algard, and the companies they have built," said Greg Beams, Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year program director for the Pacific Northwest.
